I really love some of your videos, but these recent ones I’m going to have to disagree with.

In the ’80s I swallowed way too many “fiber pills” instead of eating lunch, and they were, indeed, sawdust. You were supposed to swallow something like six or eight of them and then drink a lot of water so they’d swell and fill you up. Right.

So, this one’s pretty accurate, I think.

Hi Joy! Wow! What a fantastic message! You’re awesome and wonderful and totally an inspiration to fat girls everywhere. I am going to repost the Fat Rant 1 video on my blog. I hope that’s okay… I write about plus size fashion in Canada and also body love. You are truly a pioneer of fat acceptance and are making such a positive impact. I love Fat Rant 3, where you talk about family members… I was the only chubby one in my family (besides my mom) and her body issues totally rubbed off on me. I remember being about 7 and sucking in my tummy and saying, “I wish my tummy looked like this” and instead of telling me I was beautiful the way I was, my mom said “me too…” I know she didn’t mean to make such a negative impact with that statement, and that she was (and still is) suffering from her own body image issues, so I don’t blame her, but that comment did so much damage. I felt lacking after that and started dieting at about 8 years old. No more. I not only accept my body, but I love it and now put it on display proudly. That is mainly what my blog project is about. I only hope that I can inspire some women out there the way you have inspired me! You’re so fantastic and gorgeous! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE come on over to my blog and tell me what you think. I value your opinion SO much. http://www.curvycanadian.blogspot.com.
I would LOVE for you to come on over and check it out and take part in the community of women there so you can inspire them too.

Oh Joy, Please keep doing what you do, you are such a Sanity Check!

It’s springtime in Texas, and I’m surrounded by dieters. Perfectly sane and gorgeous women that have gotten it into their heads that they need to diet, state that they are only doing “x, y, and z and then they’ll be off it”, and have more than met x, y, and z, and have continued down the obsessive rabbit hole. And people bringing their own “special” dinners to group dinner and making a display of how they cannot eat the group dinner and “oh, poor me, this is all I can eat” is getting real old, real fast.

I do try and lead by example (I am also the biggest lady and bigger than most of the fellas) and enjoy my food and enjoy myself. I alter or make most of my clothes, and just ordered a pattern to make myself a new swimsuit (my current one is also me-made, but wearing out).

    anyway, keep it up!

Eliminating your body is extremely bad for your health. You may experience headaches, fatigue, etc. You will want to eat more. Overall, losing water weight is going to make you worse off than you started.

    Hi Joy,

I just bought your Fat Rant! dvd at Re/Dress and thought it was just great. I love your frank and forthright advice– especially the one you repeat: we only have one life. So true. We’d better live it (and love it) now. Thanks for that reminder. Good luck with your future projects.

    Kristi

Joy, is your blog dead or has it moved?

    • 14 Joy Nash April 14, 2011 at 9:29 pm

Not completely dead! But I’ve been working pretty single-mindedly on my solo show for the Hollywood Fringe Festival lately. I’ll be posting about that soon!

HAHA I am so happy that I just discovered this blog! Brilliant!

Ok i am a little amused by your video but also i am now aware of how silly it might be to stuff up with those meal replacements and think that the weight wont come back, i was also wondering if you can live all your life on something like this and not gain the weight again, i found some products onhttp://biggestloserclub.com.au/ and was thinking that they are all natural so might give them a go. i know you should have a balanced diet and yadda yadda but seriously if you want to get rid of the weight and are too lazy then are these pills and shakes the solution? thanks and love your new dress:)

I’m amazed by the people that seem to be browsing the internet through a sarcasm filter. Joy, these videos are amazing!
