My new hummingbird dress…

Some ootds…

hummingbird dress: eShakti —still available in blue and black!
bolero: Torrid
belt: Target
shoes: thrifted
earrings: Koi in Pasadena

I’ve been wearing this dress non-stop since it came in the mail a week or 2 ago. I need to take some more pictures because this past weekend my mom altered it for me– no more saggy waist and baggy nipples! For now though, all I got are pics of the belt and bolero combo disguise.

What I like to listen to:

Fatties on Ice:
These two are smart and funny and easy on the ears… and they talk funny. Especially when they say things like “against” and “house”.

More of the smart, funny variety. Really really good if you’re wondering what the whole “fat acceptance” thing is all about.

This American Life:
I’ve been working my way through from the beginning… I’m only in 1997, but it’s awesome. Really really awesome. I can’t believe they make this stuff available for free!!

What I wish I was listening to:
Dear Santa, please send me the complete recordings.

Launching Size-Acceptance Study

My friend Michaela is looking for participants for the study she’s doing as part of her doctorate degree- I’m happy to extend the call here:

Call for Participants

Hi, my name is Michaela A. Null, and I am a doctoral student in Sociology at Purdue University. I am doing a study about the embodiment of size-accepting fat women, with attention to the ways in which gender, race, sexual orientation, and body size intersect.

I am currently looking for individuals who are interested in volunteering to participate in my study. If you are interested in volunteering to participate in an interview, I ask that take an electronic informational survey, which will take approximately 5 minutes. Please go here
and complete the informational survey. After all survey data has been collected, participants will be selected for interviews, which will be conducted in-person, by phone, or via internet chat, and will last between an hour and an hour and a half.

Participation is voluntary and participants must be at least 18 years old.

This project has been approved by my university’s Institutional Review Board, which protects human subjects of research. I will provide confidentiality to all volunteers and participants will be referred to by a pseudonym in all research documents.

If you have any questions regarding this study, you can contact me at For more information on me, you can access my university profile here
